You know what's the worst? A cold in the middle of summer. Especially a cold that you get a few days before you go to the beach for a long weekend. That's what I had to deal with this past weekend; snot, coughing, and other lovely cold symptoms.

Actually, the whole weekend was a bit of a clusterfuck health-wise. I actually felt a bit better when we got to the beach. Still had to blow my nose and take medicine, but didn't feel beat down like I did during the worst of it. But over the weekend I managed to scrape my toe on a tack strip (it looks really gross right now, let me tell you), cut my finger while chopping veggies (not seriously, but still), and gouge my finger with own nail while catching a football. I am grace personified, let me tell you.

But other than that stuff, we had a great time! Got to the beach all three days, though we quickly got rained out on the second day. And since we stayed at our friends' house in Berlin, MD (instead of renting a place in Ocean City like we normally do) we ended up going to the beach at Assateague. Wild horses! I also got to do a "photo shoot" with their dog, a gorgeous greyhound. Hopefully with a little more practice I'll be ready to go volunteer at shelters and take photos of the adoptable animals. (If you want to see some of the photos I've taken so far, check out my Flickr gallery.)

We got home late last night, and I pretty much passed out right away. Unfortunately my cold has moved into the "hacking cough" stage, which is not fun, and I woke up a few times during the night. I feel slightly better today, but am still coughing a lot. Hopefully this is the end of it, and tomorrow I'll wake up feeling fine and dandy.

And that's about it!

So, Palmer and I have lived in this apartment for over a year now. It has taken us a pathetically long time to accumulate any sort of art on our walls, but it has been occurring. Slowly. (Very slowly). Well, today I received a new art piece I'd ordered, and couldn't wait to hang it up. After getting it on the wall, I realized that we still hadn't put up a painting we'd bought months ago, and since I already had the stud-finder out... It took a bit of cursing, shaking the stud-finder, and downloading a Level app onto my phone, but I eventually got it hung up properly. And then I decided to take pictures!

Heavily Instagram'd Pictures! )

Onto bitching! Wait- I can't actually remember what I wanted to bitch about (I was angry this morning for whatever reason), so have some minor inconsequential shit!

-Tattoo itches and stings, and is starting to peel. HEAL, DAMMIT! (It doesn't help that I keep hearing "You did this to you!" anytime I want to start complaining)
-I know I need to clean my apartment more, but I'm so lazy...
-I bought Teriyaki beef jerky instead of Peppered beef jerky. Disappointing. Except not, because it turns out that Teriyaki beef jerky is pretty delicious.

That's it!

After slowly going insane from stress and getting into a fight with Palmer (which we resolved that night) I decided that I needed to step down from my position as senior lead, and cut down my shifts at the coffee shop. 32 hours a week combined with 5 courses (15 credits) was just too much, and it was killing me. I was falling behind in my classes, I was always tired, and I had no social life because all I was doing was working or studying. My reduced hours go into effect next week, but I'm already feeling relieved just knowing that its going to happen. And I got over the worst bit of the semester (midterms plus research paper is not so much fun), so it should be a bit easier from here on out. (Knock on wood.)

Last week I went back to Vidal Sassoon to be a hair model in their spring workshop. Not sure what the overall look is for this season, but I wound up with a funky, asymmetrical cut (how shocking!) and red & purple hair. :D The red has, sadly, faded a bit, but I still think it looks awesome. Check out a pic of it, complete with my new nerd frame glasses, and tell me what you think:

I've gotta admit, I'm dorkily in love with those glasses.

Anyhow! This past week was the most socializing I've done in a long time. Last Saturday we went out to Dave and Busters for a few hours to celebrate a friend's birthday. Tuesday was pub quiz with our friend Cara, who was back in town for spring break. Wednesday was Vidal. Thursday was St. Patrick's Day with Palmer, Cara, and Diego, during which Cara and I spouted facts about Irish history and culture, and made jokes about the handbook they give out to everyone born with even a drop of Irish blood. (That would be me, btw- Cara is actually 100 percent Irish descent, all of her grandparents came over from Ireland.) Friday and Saturday were a bit calmer, though Palmer and I did go out for oysters Saturday evening. Last night was concert night!

I haven't been to a concert in months, which is distressing when I think about it, but last night was Travie McCoy with Black Cards at the Recher Theatre in Towson. Palmer, sweetheart that he is, had agreed to go with me, and we had a really good time. Palmer's favorite act was XV, who came on just after we arrived. I'll admit, XV was quite awesome, and I look forward to buying his cd when it comes out. Black Cards were on next, and oh my do I love their music and Bebe's voice. And Pete is a total furry, and it is hilarious. But they were awesome, loved the Gnarls Barkley cover, loved their dorky and awkward stage banter, and Pete broke my heart a bit when he said that part of him just wanted to curl up in bed for the next 10 years. :( But I did get to meet them after their set, though I was a big dork and basically said, "Hi, I loved the music video for Club Called Heaven, the Head that Wouldn't Die is one of my favorite old horror movies, can I get a picture with you all?" Not sure how much of that they even heard other than "iloveyoupicture?" but they all smiled and I got a picture with Pete and Bebe (though the flash on my phone is kind of shitty and its not that great). But still! A picture!

I also got to say hi to [livejournal.com profile] crossouttheeyes and [livejournal.com profile] jukeboxromeo which was awesome. I am exceedingly jealous both of their week of awesome, and of their tattoos. In addition, Travie McCoy was fucking awesome, and I am so impressed with his charisma and stage presence, I can't even say.

Today is normally a work day, but I requested off so I wouldn't have to leave the concert early. So basically I've been doing homework and fucking around on the internet in no particular order. Eventually I have to go get the car from my parents house so I can get to work in the morning, but that'll happen later.

Once again, I'm going to work on updating more. I didn't for awhile because of stress about work and school, and upset about what happened in Bethesda, but I'll try to do better about staying in touch.

Trying to start posting more regularly, since I've basically been disappeared for months. So I figured an easy way to get back in the swing of things would be to do a Weekend Update! So, let's see-

Friday I got out of work around 8:25, and managed to walk back to my parents place in 15 minutes. I'm getting faster! Got their car and agreed to look after their cats this weekend. Went by my place, fed the cats and cuddled them a bit, grabbed my computer and some laundry and went off to Palmer's. We ordered Thai food, I watched an episode of LOST, and then we were hanging out with his roommate Mike the rest of the night. It was a good time, but we drank way too much, Saturday morning was unpleasant.

Saturday we stumbled out of bed (seriously, quite unpleasant), fed my parents cats, fed my cats, fed ourselves, then sat on the couch staring at our computers until around 8pm, when it was time to feed all sets again. Palmer and I went out to Joe's Crab Shack, which is always quite delicious, and both got the King Crab legs. God, those things are sinfully good. I do wish they would put more Old Bay on the "Chesapeake Style" legs, but ah well. Unfortunately, after the meal my headache returned with a vengeance, and when we got home I went right to bed. Palmer told me that when he came into the bedroom, Loki was curled up between my calves and Goblin was curled up right next to him between my knees. I vaguely remember this, but apparently it was super cute!

Today has been fairly epic. Fed the parents cats, then attempted a trip to Target for Simple Green so I can clean my bathroom properly. I swear to god, no place in this area carries it, it is QUITE frustrating. After Target we met friends at an Indian restaurant for lunch buffet, then decided that we should all go to Value Village to go thrift store shopping. That place is irresistible, I swear. I ended up buying a Polaroid camera, a samovar-style pitcher that is now sitting in my bookshelf, and two shadow boxes with miniature kitchen implements and recipes that I will hang in my kitchen. All awesome!

Unfortunately, this evening we had to take the kitties to the emergency animal clinic. Goblin has been sneezing since we got him, and though the vet had said that it would probably run its course, his cold has been getting worse. And today Loki was totally lethargic and had no interest in food, so we decided we should take them both in to get checked out. Good thing we did! Loki is fine, just a bit under the weather (and he still hates the vet, though he didn't scratch this time- mostly because we just removed the top of the carrier to examine him and the vet had me hold him and talk to him while she checked his vitals), but Goblin's cold has turned bacterial. So! Goblin now has antibiotics that I have to give him once a day, and we have cans of tuna to feed them that should penetrate their stuffy noses and incite their appetites. Hopefully within a few days this will all be behind them.

On the plus side, they are total best buds now. Loki has been repeatedly trying to bathe Goblin over the last several days, and like I mentioned, Goblin loves to sleep next to Loki. It is quite adorable, and I'm glad they're getting along so well. Today they comforted each other after the traumatic ordeal that was the emergency clinic:

Too cute! )

Anyhow, tomorrow I have to work, but I plan on swinging by Strosneiders in the morning to 1)check for Simple Green, 2)buy some ceramic water dishes for potted plants, and 3)purchase a hanging pot for my spider plant. Then on Tuesday I will continue the epic cleaning project that I started today. Good times!

And thats it! Up next I'll combine Reel Big Fish and The Bouncing Souls, and then the massive, massive post of The Academy Is. Oh, TAI. I may be a little... captivated... by them. Just a little.

Ok, so its all under cuts and separated by band- enjoy!

sparkfrost: (Cobra Starship)
Art Attack was fucking awesome. Simple Plan rocked the fuck out and reminded me why I liked them, The Bravery kicked ass and played all of their songs I like, and Wyclef fucking Jean is beyond words. Unbelievable. But, most importantly of all was Cobra motherfucking Starship! And look!

Pictures, bitches! )

So yes! Awesome awesome show! I'm really excited for Warped Tour so I can see them again, cause I've had a kickass time each show I've been to. Oh, Cobra!

Because this is a BIG post full of bandwidth eating pictures! )

So! Hope you all liked that, those were my favorites of the ones I took. Spencer and Jon are both remarkably hard to catch holding still, even a little bit, I'm sorry that I couldn't have more pics of them. But yeah, enjoy!
