Job Stuff! and other things
Apr. 20th, 2013 01:52 pmI was going to post an update on Monday, because we'd had a busy few days before that, but then the Boston Marathon bombings happened, and I just didn't really feel like typing my random little weekend updates when all that was going on. I don't have any particular tie to Boston, but its a lovely city and I know some lovely people who live there. So I'm glad that its over. And after seeing some of the more gruesome pictures of the immediate aftermath, I've decided to take a CPR/first aid/triage course, whatever is offered around here for non-first responders. Because God forbid I'm ever near anything like that, but if I am, I want to be able to help.
Anyhow. Had a very busy weekend. Went out to the Tidal Basin on Saturday to look at the cherry blossoms. Unfortunately, it had rained on Friday, and a lot of the blossoms had been taken off the trees. It was still lovely, but not the same level that I hear it was on Wednesday and Thursday. Ah well. Always next year. And Palmer and I agreed that next spring we'll play hooky from work and go down during the week. Avoid some of the tourists, and all that jazz.
Sunday was a lot of fun. We went up to hang with our friends in Pikesville. Headed over to Patapsco state park, walked around along the river. It was lovely out. A little chilly, but really nice in the sun. And I took a ton of pictures, which are up on Facebook for those who follow me there.
This week has been busy busy. The production company has told me that my hours will be increasing, which is definitely a good thing. We're working to transform into a production & marketing company. So you come to us for an awesome video, and then I'll push the hell out of it on social media. So hopefully our clients will start taking us up on that, because then I'll get even more hours!
My first day as social media manager for the coffee shop went well. It was a lot of admin stuff yesterday, getting everything set up, getting my own email address for the company, re-naming our Twitter handle... but I got all that done, and set up a week's worth of posts on Facebook and Twitter. And on Facebook, we already have four new followers! In one day! HOORAY! I am actually really excited about this, I think it'll be really cool.
Its funny, because this wasn't what I ever imagined doing. But uh, its working out pretty well so far, and people are liking the work I'm doing, so that's good. And we'll see how it goes.
Later today Palmer and I are going to head out to throw the softball around. Our first game was Wednesday and I did... not so good. At bat, I was fine. But my arm has gone to shit. So we'll go, and I'll work on my distance and my aim. And hopefully within a few weeks I'll show some improvement.
And that's about it!
