Wow, it has been way too long since I've actually posted something. A TON has happened, so let's get cracking!

So I've mentioned (a million times) that I do hair modelling for Vidal Sassoon. For the past three years I've mostly been letting them do whatever they wanted, and for the most part they've kept me in "natural" colors. I mean, I've gone from brunette to red-head to black hair to bleach blond, but these are all colors that look like they could be my natural hair color. Somehow even the bleach blond - before the roots grew back in, that is.

Anyhow! I decided that I wanted to go a bit crazy, and since, being a hair model, I get my hair done for free, why not do some crazy colors? In my last post (way back in April, sorry!) I mentioned that there was one more step to my hair transformation - well, here it is:

I rocked the lavender for a little while, about a month. Unfortunately, much as I loved it, it faded really quickly. So I was back to blond for a while, then I decided to go a different direction. Personally, I blame Tumblr for this one:

I'm really enjoying it! For one, it has stuck around much longer. I got it done in the last week of June, and three weeks later it is still nice and turquoise. Yes, a much lighter turquoise, but still clearly blue-green. I also get a lot of attention because of it - it seems like every day someone stops and tells me they love my hair. Which is awesome to hear! Ok, enough about hair. Onto the even bigger development!

Since we got married last year, everyone has been asking about 1)when we're going to buy a house and 2)when we're going to have kids. Well, 2 isn't happening for a little while, but we were definitely ready for 1! We started looking at the end of January, and closed at the end of May! (It didn't actually take that long we started actively looking - a lot of it was wrangling paperwork and figuring out loan stuff - actual house-hunting was about a month.)

We moved in mid-June, and have been living in our house (our house!) since. It's really nice - a mid-century rambler with a finished basement, and a HUGE backyard. The previous owners did some nice updates to it (bathroom, kitchen), so now we're just trying to unpack and order furniture and hang our art up. Right now it's kind of a mess, because there are boxes all over the place, but its starting to look like a place where people live and hang out. Once we get everything sorted I'll post pictures. Now, onto a slightly more serious topic...

Unfortunately, I have gained back some of the weight I lost before. I still fit most of my clothes, but some pants are not fun to wear. :-( So I've gotten back on the fitness and healthy-eating horse (or rather, I'm trying to) and want to get down to my goal weight by the end of the year. I'd really like to lose 15 pounds in time for the series of weddings in the early fall so I can wear the dresses I want to wear and not worry about buying new. So I got a gym membership and I've started using My Fitness Pal again. This week, at least, I've been good about bringing my lunch to work and cooking dinner. We're going to the beach this weekend, and I'll try to remember to make healthy choices. I think the big thing is going to be working out regularly and cutting back on the beer, honestly. Anyhow - I'll try to keep a lot of it off here, but I'll post updates occasionally.

Also, if anyone has advice about weight lifting for beginners, I'd appreciate it!

So that's the big stuff. Everything else is going well. Work is good. Cats are good. We'd like to adopt a dog shortly - probably in the next few weeks. With a huge yard like ours, we pretty much have to, right? :-)

I'll also try to update more often. 3 months is a ludicrous absence, and I love LJ. Even when they eff with the layout and other stuff.

Ciao!
