Better Than Last Week

So I stopped flipping out. Well, first I flipped out harder, cause oh my god they fried my hair and why am I blond, but then I got over it. Mostly. Some kind words from good friends helped quite a bit, as did the lovely weather over the past few days. Of course today is gross and shitty outside, but I was in "get shit done" mode, and shitty weather can't get me down!
Ahem. So yes - As I've mentioned, I do hair modeling with Vidal Sassoon. With one memorable exception, they've always done a great job with my hair, working their style and aesthetic into something that flatters my face. Yay! Well. Two weeks ago they had a demo day, and asked me to model for it. Which is no big, I've done demo modeling before. The cut and color is usually funkier and more dramatic because they have to showcase THE LOOK while workshops are all about interpreting it. This time, THE LOOK was blond. Very blond. Like, "My name is Blond, White Blond" levels of blond. So they obviously had to bleach my hair to achieve this. Nbd. Except then they bleached it again, to get the tone right. Then they cut it all choppy and blow dried the shit out of it to style it. Which meant that my lovely, fine, baby soft hair is now a blond frazzled mess. GAH!
Ok - it isn't terrible, and its gotten better over the past few days. I've put away the blow dryer for the time being, I've talked to my usual stylist about cutting off the most fried ends, and I've started cutting back on shampoo. I'm not calling it "no 'poo" cause that sounds gross, but basically that's what I'm doing. I'll shampoo it every other day or so, and in between hopefully the oil and whatnot will soothe the straggly beast. But still! FRIED HAIR! WHY?!?! Anyhow, there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth, and even though I've gotten plenty of compliments there is a small part of me inside that's crying because this ISN'T MY HAIR!
Whatever, I'll get over it. Here, have a picture:

Onto other topics! Last day with Bethesda Green will be Saturday. I've been hired as a part-time contractor with another non-profit (one that will PAY me) and just won't have time to be there twice a week for full days. I told them I'd like to keep writing the weekly blog post, cause that only takes about an hour, I like doing it, and it builds my writing portfolio. In return, they said there might be room in the budget for me to be paid for those blog posts. So hooray!
Going to see Iron Man 3 tonight, SO EXCITED!
That's it about it, ciao!
