On Baptisms and Veterinarians

This past weekend I went down to Atlanta with Palmer and my parents to attend the baptism of my niece and nephew, Ava and Henry. My sister Serena asked me and our sister Clarissa to be godmothers, she of Ava and me for Henry. Clarissa unfortunately couldn't come, but my parents sprang for my ticket so at least one godmother would be there. Since neither of us are Catholic, we are technically not godmothers, but Christian Witnesses, and while that sounds like some sort of religious rock band name, I think I'll stick with godmother.
So my mom and dad stayed at a hotel near the church, and Palmer and I stayed with Serena and Ed. Gus, their dog, was in love with Palmer because my boyfriend was the only one paying the dog any attention. And both babies seemed to like Palmer when I made him hold them, so that's good. :D
The baptism itself was lovely. I didn't have to do much, other than stand behind the font and say "We will" and try not to trip over anything. But family from both sides was there, and neither baby cried, so all went well. The lunch that followed was full of alcohol, which I guess fits in with a Catholic baptism. :-P We hung out at Serena and Ed's that night, then caught a flight back to DC the next day. Good times! (Friends on Google+, I have pics up, take a look!)
Today was the dreaded veterinary visit. Both Loki and Goblin were due for shots, and I had to get proof of vaccination for them to be allowed in the new apartment building. Good god, those cats hate the vet. The second Loki realized where we were, he started in with the menacing growling. Goblin wasn't too bad until the vet tech picked him up to weigh him, then he started hissing. The vet warned me that Goblin would be sore and tired tonight, because he tensed up so much while he was getting shots. When it was Loki's turn, they actually had me leave the room, because it would easier for them. Judging from the thumps and growling, I think they were right! Actually, the tech told me that Goblin was much more of a fighter, once they got the blanket around Loki he was mostly noise. But the vet did say that Loki was the strongest cat, pound for pound, that the vet had ever seen.
Anyhow, shots and proof of vaccination (and breed) acquired, and no vet visits required for at least 2 years! And since I've fed them, both cats are no longer annoyed with me! Hurrah!
Official move-in day is Friday, and I think that's when we're having our internet set up as well. After looking over the options, I have convinced Palmer that Comcast is the devil's internet service, and we willbe sticking with RCN, though at a much higher speed.
And that's it for now!
