sparkfrostThere was some back and forth with the heat over the past few days- my landlord was awesome about it, and called the repair people right away, who came to fix it. But it seemed to be taking a while to get the apartment back up to a comfortable temperature. Which sucked, because DC is in the middle of a cold snap. However! Yesterday, while feeling ill, I turned on the mini space heater for an hour or so, until it got up to around 70 degrees in here. And its stayed that way! I woke up this morning and my bedroom was warm, it was incredible! It is now 71 degrees in the apartment and quite lovely, its pretty awesome.
I worked today, from 7am to 3. I don't actually mind waking up early, and would prefer to keep working the early shifts over the closing shifts, but sadly I still lack a car. And I don't know if my willpower is strong enough to not only get me out of bed and showered, but get me out the door into the cold to wait for a bus. Palmer was nice enough to drive me today, but I can't keep expecting that of it. So, it looks like it'll be closing shifts for a while, at least until late spring. Though I will try to rearrange my schedule so that I get at least one weekend day off. Working early on both Saturday and Sunday is just no fun.
Speaking of Palmer, he helped me install Kubuntu on my system. I am a pretty big fan so far, especially since it runs so much faster! Plus, so pretty! Hooray for 3D graphics!
I have a project in mind. It would have been better to start it on January 1st, but between work and being sick I wasn't able to. I'll think about it over the next few days, plan what I want to do, then maybe reveal it on the 10th? Nice round number, 10.
This weekend my parents and I are going to Florida to visit my grandmother and my aunt. I'll post before then, but probably won't be able to post while I'm there. Just to let you all know!
