So there's that. Sweet Jesus, did this weekend suck. All Friday at work we were answering questions about the storm, whether the store would be open, how we would get there, if we were prepared to be snowed in, etc etc. That night Palmer and I took Loki over to my parents house because we knew that my apartment would be impossible to get to if it did actually drop a foot to us. We stayed up a bit too late drinking scotch and watching the snow fall, and finally passed out at 3. The alarm went off at 730 and I got up to shower and get ready for work. The world was white. Objectively, it was lovely. Knowing that we had to drive through it, the snow was a terrible harbinger of DOOM!

But drive through it we did, and managed to get to my job without spinning out. The store was dead. I mean, people were coming in, but compared to a normal Saturday it was practically empty. Most everyone was really nice and tipped extra cause we'd come through the snow, but there was one awful woman. She had called around 12, asking if we had French Roast (we did) and when we would be open to (3pm). Well, around 1 it started coming down even harder, and the owner told us that we'd be closing half an hour earlier. That woman showed up at 2:45 trying to buy her pound of coffee. Now, if she had said right away that she was the person who called, we would have of course accommodated her. Instead she started screaming at us, yelling that she'd been a customer for 5 years, that she had walked 2 miles through the snow (she was incredibly dry for someone who'd walked 2 miles through a blizzard), blah blah ranty McBitch-cakes. Kristian managed to calm her down by selling her the pound, and after a bitchy remark to me that I responded less-than-nicely to (I just told her frankly that we had only recently been told to close early), she left telling us to "stay safe." WHATEVER, BITCH! Gah!

Today wasn't bad. Quiet until the afternoon, then it got busy. But tips were good. I'm just glad to be home. My feet hurt, my legs hurt, and all I want to do is drink beer and eat dinner.

Maybe tomorrow I'll actually get to play in the snow.

... yeah. I still work at the 'Bux, and I don't know how many people actually thanked us for being open. And Boston certainly got less snow than DC.

It's a little crazy.

I used to work at the 'Bux and I think the thing with that store is, people expect you to be open. Starbucks is a nation-wide chain, and I think people think of it on the same terms as a 7-11. Of COURSE it will be open! Forgetting that the people who work in the store still need to be able to get there!

How is your breathing doing, by the way? I saw the earlier post, are you doing better?

Which is why it's always nice to have the confirmation of "we understand you too are human." *sighs*

Yeah, better. Part of the problem is the air in winter is too dry. Breathing was better mostly because while I didn't exactly have an attack, I'm finally starting to cough. Which breaks up, well... stuff... in the lungs. So, yes, helps. So does free access to hot liquids. :)

I always used to love mixing the Orange and the Passion Fruit teas together, with just a bit of honey. Mmmm....

Also delicious! I know you all are more used to snow up there, but stay safe during the storm!

Will try! You too! Have fun tomorrow, if you and Palmer do get out in it.
