Right before Thanksgiving we noticed a water leak in our basement ceiling. We were able to get a plumber out, and he eventually found a pinhole leak in our copper piping. So that was fixed, but we still have to remove the damaged ceiling and replace it. AND the testing came back positive for asbestos, so we have to do THAT remediation as well. It's a shitshow, basically, but thank God for homeowners insurance, because they are covering practically everything. We just need to get it scheduled, which involves emptying the basement of furniture and vacating the house for three days. Fun!

But while the plumber was looking for the leak he was checking the kitchen appliances and all faucets, and told us that while the dishwasher was not THE leak it was in fact leaking, and so we would need to get a new one. And while part of me is happy - our dishwasher was super old and not very good - it's just another expense on top of a year full of expenses. So anyhow, Palmer and I took a few weeks off over the holidays and during that time bought a new dishwasher from Home Depot. They delivered the dishwasher this morning and were supposed to install it too, but the previous homeowners apparently soldered the old dishwasher pipe into place, and the delivery guys weren't able to get it out. So guess who now has a plumber in their kitchen and will be paying $860 for the pleasure? This girl!

Dude is super nice and was able to come same-day, but that convenience costs. And it's just frustrating. We've been in this house almost twelve years and are STILL finding ways that the previous owners screwed up.
