Weekend Update!
Apr. 7th, 2013 10:21 pmThe creek clean-up went well. Palmer decided he'd rather sleep in (not that I blame him) but gave me his car so I didn't have to bike over. I was assigned to a route along with a nice older man who lived in the area. We spent about 2 hours cleaning our section, which did include some climbing into and out of the streambed, as well as ducking through vines and shrubs. Most of the trash was what you'd expect - bottles, plastic bags, etc. But there was also a giant sleeping pad, several yogurt containers, and a cache of beer bottles and pre-made jello shots. Fun! There was also a bit of grossness - we'd been seeing deer bones over a certain part of our section, and were gathering them as well. Unfortunately, some of the bones were more... carcass-y... than others. I picked up (with gloves on!) what I thought was just a leg bone, but it was unfortunately still attached to fur and some muscle. It was... pretty gross. I disposed of it, and then tried to use as much brain bleach as possible to get rid of the visual memory of it. Blech. Anyhow, rest assured that I washed my hands a million times afterwards, and took a VERY long shower.
Anyhow! Found the bridesmaid dress! Strapless with a bigger skirt, ends above the knee, has pockets. My maid of honor tried it on and immediately loved it. We pretty much stopped looking after that. In fact, I loved it so much that I bought one in a different color. Yeah, I'm a dork.
Today we hit up a new (to us) place for brunch. Jackie's has some tasty food and good mimosas, and that's pretty much all I want from a brunch place. Well - I'd like to test out their bloody marys, and then I'll pass full judgement.
We joined a rec softball league, but neither of us still had our gloves from playing as teens. So we went out to Sports Authority, and after a bit of confusion, managed to find good-fitting gloves that weren't $80. We bought those, and a softball, and glove oil. Went to a local park, and tossed around the softball for half an hour. And now my right arm is sore. But hey, I can still throw and catch a softball!
Ok, this was kind of fractured. I'm going to stop now.
