Starting New Habits
Sep. 30th, 2012 05:25 pmApparently it takes 10 weeks to form a solid habit. 10 weeks of doing something, without fail, before it becomes ingrained. I'm already trying to turn running into a habit, lets see if I can't make regular blogging a habit as well.
Palmer and I have been trying to be more social, and more active. As nice as it is to just lounge about the apartment all weekend, that can get old. So a few weeks ago we decided to get out and do shit. We went to the zoo, went to the craft cocktail bar I'm obsessed with, and went kayaking with a friend in the Potomac River. The zoo was awesome, as usual, though it did make me reconsider the whole "having kids" thing. Or at least shudder in horror at others' parenting styles. Kayaking was super fun. I don't think I'd ever known that you could kayak in the Potomac outside Georgetown, but yeah, you sure can. So we paddled around past Roosevelt Island and back. Palmer's shoulders were quite sore, and we all were soaked by the end of it. But it was good times! Afterwards we grabbed lunch at a place with delicious fish tacos, and then headed home. Last weekend we went out with friends of mine, then met up with other friends for a birthday celebration. So yeah. Working on being more social.
I'm also working on saving money. Trying to put 5% of every paycheck into savings. So this isn't a huge amount, but hey- a little is better than none at all, right?
Now I need to go knit. I told my friend Chris he'd have a Redskins scarf in time for the cold weather games, and dammit he will. After I finish his scarf, I'll need to decide on my next project. Possibly a scarf for moi? Who knows!
