Customers, why?!
Jan. 23rd, 2010 07:15 pmJesus H Christ, today was a hell of a day at the coffee shop. First Saturday I've worked when we've been truly busy, and good god, now I know why everyone warned me about weekends.
I can deal with a line out the door. I can deal with a line out the door that goes on for two hours. But when you add the fire alarm going off FOUR TIMES on top of that? NOT COOL, UNIVERSE, NOT COOL!
We only evacuated the first two times, because it turned out to be a malfunction in one of the offices on the second floor of the building. But still, we did have to evacuate twice within an hour. The most ridiculous part of all this was the various people who kept coming up to the store trying to get in! Despite being able to hear the fire alarm going off! Look, people, I know you need your coffee, I get that. But its kind of hard to enjoy coffee if you are BURNING ALIVE!
Other than that hot mess it was a fine day, just incredibly busy. I was very glad to leave at 4, and look forward to a well earned rest tonight.
Other things accomplished today: paid for classes and ordered my books! They should arrive Wednesday, yay! And my planner will be arriving Monday! Rock on!
I need a beer.
