Ok, Supernatural "fans", let us talk, you and I

If you don't like an episode or two, sure, that happens to all shows. Something bugs you, there are too many anvils, they include a character you don't like much- whatever. Sometimes shit like that happens.

But when you bitch about every episode in the current season? I'm tempted to tell you to STFU and GTFO of the fandom. If it upsets you this deeply, for every episode, what enjoyment are you getting out of it? Seriously! All you do is bitch bitch bitch, go misogynistic, bitch about the writing, bitch about Sam, moan about Dean, hate on the mytharc, etc etc. You don't sound happy, so WHY DO YOU STAY?! Is it because you are obsessed with writing porn for it? Is it Castiel love? Or do you just want to continue to spew vitriol over every single female character that appears on the show? I mean, not to assume... but that's how it looks to me!

I have had one too many glasses of wine to continue this angry rant. Expect a slightly hungover, therefore angrier, rant tomorrow.

Left public because, check out the tag.

Dude. I agree with every word you said here. I have run into at least one person like this in every fandom I've been in. Even bandom. God, ESPECIALLY bandom. When you are no longer happy with the fandom you're in, that's when it's time to pack up and leave.

Exactly! I get not liking some parts of fandom- but when every single thing makes the fan unhappy, why are they sticking around? What is the point after that?

For fucking real. Here's something shocking to several people, apparently: when certain shows I've watched started sucking beyond the point of me getting any enjoyment out of them? I STOPPED WATCHING. Or at the very least, didn't bitch and moan about it all the fucking time, because hey, if I'm taking an hour out of my life to watch something I know I'm going to get all pissy about? THAT MAKES ME KIND OF DOUCHE, DOESN'T IT? And I prefer not to advertise that fact. asdsjkdskdjd;

Exactly! When I got tired of the Simpsons, I stopped watching. When Smallville started to bore me, I stopped watching. When Charmed became too ridiculous, I STOPPED WATCHING. Yet these people insist on sticking around, bitching and moaning and bringing the rest of us down. Gah!

I do NOT understand that part of fandom. Why do people sit around obsessing over something they hate? Or watch a television show that just makes them angry. I've given up PLENTY of tv shows because they sucked and I spent the hour unhappy. I didn't want to torture myself anymore. Fandom should be fun times, not anger-inducing!

Some people like being angry. I know I like to make a good angry rant every now and again. But there is a difference between occasional anger like that and just *hating* the fandom you're in and sticking around anyway. And that kind of anger I just don't get.

Hahaaaa I knew there was a reason I left the Supernatural fandom! (Well, that and Bandom ate my brain. >_>) People are ridiculous and, I'm pretty sure, just always looking for an excuse to complain about something. I was totally disenchanted with Supernatural about mid-season last year, but I sucked it up and caught up and I'm finding this season very enjoyable! (Even if I do miss the old Ruby and sometimes even Bella.)

[identity profile] sparkfrost.livejournal.com 2009-01-23 04:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I sometimes get annoyed at the show- the added misogyny last year pissed me off and got me to take a huge step back from the fandom. But this season I've really loved so decided to go back on some boards and glee with people. But oh no. No no no. For every positive post there were 5 bitching about Ruby, about anvils, about the mytharc. Wah wah wahmbulance, cancel my subscription, I'm sick of their issues.

(I miss old Ruby too, but I don't bitch about GC every chance I get like the people on the boards. I wish they'd get over it!)

And I laughed as I read your post, cuz I just showed [livejournal.com profile] veins_of_ink this . . .

Appropriate, no?

Nice! And very appropriate! If I have time to write that follow up today I think I'll link to it.
